Xikou Village reaps bumper harvest of corn

Recently, corn in Xikou Village, Pingba Town of Guzhang County entered the harvest season. Several farmers were busy picking, bagging and transporting corn in the field.

A large grower in the village said that she planted 100 mu (about 6.67 hectares) of corn, and will have a good harvest this year, with an annual output of 25,000 to 30,000 kg. She will earn about 70,000 to 80,000 yuan with a price of 2.6 yuan per kg. The village government has worked to ensure that the autumn harvest and spring sowing of corn can be done smoothly to promote agricultural efficiency and increase farmers’ income.

“Every year, large-scale grain growers receive a subsidy of 200 yuan per mu (about 0.067 hectares), and at the beginning of spring, the village will provide fertilizers and seeds for these farmers for free,” said the deputy secretary of Xikou Village.”
